The Morongo Unified School District announced in April that the graduating senior class of 2020 would not be able to take part in a traditional graduation ceremony due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19. The school district issued a call for suggestions for alternative graduation ceremonies that would give a meaningful celebration for seniors and their families. The Morongo Unified School District has partnered with Z107.7 FM to host three virtual graduation broadcasts: Black Rock High School on June 8, Twentynine Palms High School on June 9, and Yucca Valley High School on June 10. The virtual graduation broadcasts will be held on-air and via Facebook live. Each ceremony will include the usual graduation program of live speeches, anthems, roll call, and changing of the tassels. Each school site will be working with students to create their special moment that will include photos and messages. Seniors can contact their high school staff with any questions they may have.
