Z107.7 NEWS NOMINATED FOR A PRESTIGIOUS GOLDEN MIKE AWARD

In an extraordinary honor for a small-market radio station, Z107.7 News has been named one of the top three news radio stations in southern California. Z107.7 News is a finalist in the Radio-Television News Association’s Golden Mike Awards®, for “Best News Broadcast.” The Golden Mike Awards are Southern California’s most prestigious—and most coveted—broadcast journalism prize. What sets the Golden Mikes® apart from other competitions is the “Golden Mike Standard of Excellence.”

Unlike most awards contests in which winners are determined by selecting which entry is the “best” among all those submitted in each category, if the judges decide that no entry in a category meets the “Standard of Excellence,” then no award is given in that category. As a result, Golden
Mike Award® winners know that their work has been judged to be “excellent” as well as the “best.” Z107.7’s Local News was a finalist for Best
News Broadcast Under 15 Minutes, along with network radio station KABC-AM’s 5:30 a.m. news, and National Public Radio’s KCLU News with Dave
Meyer. The winner will be announced Saturday, January 27, at an awards ceremony in Universal City. Z107.7 News Director Gary Daigneault and Managing Editor Tami Roleff have each won Golden Mikes® previously.
