Hi-Desert Publishing and Z107.7 Radio have once again teamed up to co-sponsor a free holiday decorating contest for all businesses located in the Morongo Basin. Reporter Rebecca Havely shares the contest rules and prizes for winners…
Get into the holiday spirit and enter your local business in the holiday decorating contest. Its free to enter and the rules are simple. There are four categories small business up to 1,500 square feet: best interior and best exterior; and large businesses, 1,500 feet or over, best interior and best exterior. Painted windows are not eligible. The judges are local design professionals and they use a scale of 1 to 10 for five criteria, “overall appeal,” “Use of available Space,” Use of Lights and Color,” “inventiveness and overall theme,” and “Wow factor.” Awards will be given for first and second place in all four categories. Decorating contest winners get hundreds of dollars in local advertising, a very cool trophy and holiday bragging rights. Entries must be located in the Morongo Basin from Morongo Valley to the west, Wonder Valley to the east, north to Johnson Valley, and south to the border of Joshua Tree National Park. The deadline to enter the Holiday Decorating Contest is 5:00 p.m. December 18, 2015. Winners will be announced December 23, 2015.
