The Yucca Valley Trojans Football team traveled to Canyon Springs for their second game of the season. Despite a hard-fought game, the Trojans lost 21-27 in the final minute of the game. The Trojans will host their first football game on the new Trojan Field against the Hamilton Bobcats in a Homecoming game Friday (September 10). Kick off is at 7 p.m.
“I am proud of how this team responded when one of our key guys went out in the first few minutes of the game. Players stepped up and it shows the character of this team.”
The Trojans appeared to have stopped the Cougars on the 1 yard line but it was ruled a Touchdown in the final minute of the game. Senior Captain Garrett Slayden had 114 yards rushing and a touchdown. Michael Ramos was 10 for 19 passing for 92 yards and rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Javin Hudson caught 7 passes for 62 yards.
Defensive standouts were Garrett Slayden who led the team with 15 tackles followed by Seth Storm with 7 tackles and Javin Hudson and Ben Casillas each had 5 tackles.
The Frosh-Soph lost Thursday September 2, 2021 to Canyon Springs 42-20. Quarterback Noah Hall scrambled for 40 yards in the 3rd quarter for a Touchdown. Hall connected with Billy Phillips and Aidan Possehl for two more passing touchdowns. The Frosh-Soph Defensive standouts were Gabe Morones and Mario Rabanalas.
