The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team scored a 72-42 win over Corcoran High School Thursday (March 3) night in a CIF State Division 4 second-round playoff game in Trojan Gym.
The team’s balanced attack was paced by junior Malia Ulery’s 24 points and 6 assists. Sophomore Cadence Tarrant was a force scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Senior Heather Hiday was a spark scoring 14 points and snatching 10 rebounds. Senior Maliah Rodriguez hit 2 three-point baskets for her 6 points while junior Ashley Lowe pitched in 5 points. Freshman Macy Yakutis had 3 points and junior Jaylie Schreiber added 2 points to finish out the scoring.
With the victory, the team advances to the Division 4 Regional Semifinals and a home game against King/Drew High School from Los Angeles Saturday night (March 5) in Trojan Gym. Game time is 6 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase Friday afternoon on the YVHS Facebook page.
