YVHS LADY TROJAN BASKETBALL WINS THIRD CONSECUTIVE DESERT VALLEY LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan varsity basketball team shook off a slow first half and clinched their third consecutive Desert Valley League championship with a 74-30 victory over the Banning Broncos Thursday (February 3) afternoon in Trojan Gym.

Leading by a 25-17 score at halftime the Yucca girls outscored the visitors 22-6 in the third quarter on their way to the Senior Night win.

Senior Maliah Rodriguez finished her regular season career by leading the team with 24 points including seven 3 point baskets. Sophomore Cadence Tarrant put in solid work scoring 19 points while senior Heather Hiday knocked in 14 points. Junior Malia Ulery chipped in 13 points and junior Ashley Lowe capped off the scoring with 4 points.

The team now waits for the CIF Playoff bracket which will be announced on Tuesday (February 8) afternoon. The team will likely have a 1st Round playoff home game next Saturday (February 12) based on their first place finish in league play.
