The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan Varsity basketball team improved to 5-0 in Desert Valley League play with a 74-10 road win at Indio High School on Friday (January 7) afternoon. The Lady Trojans jumped out to a 44-4 halftime lead as they upped their overall record to 11-3 on the season.
Senior Maliah Rodriguez sparked the offense knocking down six three-point baskets on her way to a game-high 24 points. Junior Malia Ulery was equally effective netting 19 points. Senior Heather Hiday added 15 points while sophomore Cadence Tarrant controlled the glass grabbing 14 rebounds to go with her 12 points. Junior Ashley Lowe hit for four points for the final tally.
The team now prepares for a Wednesday (January 12) showdown, with the co-leader of the Desert Valley League, the Twentynine Palms Wildcats. Both teams come into the game with a 5-0 league record. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in Trojan Gym.
