The Yucca Valley Planning Commission met last night to discuss changes to the short-term vacation rental code, as well as issues related to Western Joshua Trees. Reporter Jef Harmatz has the full breakdown.
At last night’s regularly scheduled meeting, town staff presented preliminary work towards the recent directive from the Yucca Valley Town Council to consider changes to the short-term rental code. The planning commission will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the rental code, which may include heavier fines for problematic rentals, at their November 23 meeting. The planning commission approved the encroachment of eight Western Joshua Trees (at the 7200 block of Sage Ave, the 55000 block of Mountain View Trail,) and the removal of four dead detached Western Joshua Trees (at the 6400 block of Airway Ave, the 7500 block of Cherokee Trail, the 57000 block of Saint Mary’s Drive) at various properties around town. Finally, the commission approved a zoning variance on the 53000 block of Ridge Road related to new construction and a reduced yard setback.
