Yucca Valley motorcyclist dead on SR-247 in suspected DUI

A Yucca Valley man was killed while riding a motorcycle on Old Woman Springs Road in Lucerne Valley, and authorities suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor.

On Saturday (September 16) at around 3:45 p.m., California Highway Patrol reports that a Harley Davidson motorcyle, driven by Joseph McCool, a 37 year-old Yucca Valley resident, was heading eastbound on state route 247 in Lucerne Valley near Sante Fe Road. The Harley Davidson drove to the left of a Ford F-450 as the truck was making a left-hand turn onto Sante Fe Road.

The CHP reports that the Harley Davidson collided with the left side of the Ford, and that McCool sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the Ford was uninjured.

Joseph McCool was declared dead at the scene by the San Bernardino County Coroner. The CHP said that alcohol and or drug impairment is suspected to be a factor in the collision.
