Two Yucca Valley men were arrested for investigation into reckless driving, DUI, and hit and run after injuring a family, including two children, in a traffic collision.
On Monday (June 26) at approximately 2:30 p.m. County Sheriff’s Deputies report that they responded to a call regarding a reckless driver in a red Cadillac in the area of Sante Fe Trail and Fox Trail in Yucca Valley. When Deputies arrived at the scene, they found the Cadillac, empty, in what they described as a large plume of dust. Near the scene was an overturned Ford Explorer, which was carrying a 63-year-old Female, 27-year-old Male, 4-year-old Male, and 2-year-old Female, all residents of Yucca Valley. The passengers of the Ford Explorer, including the children, were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for injuries.
Deputies identified the driver of the Cadillac as Alvaro Rodriguez, a 26 year-old resident of Yucca Valley, saying that he and a passenger, Edilberto Morales, a 32 year-old resident of Yucca Valley, both fled the scene of the collision. Deputies ultimately located Rodriguez and Morales at their nearby residence, where they were determined to be under the influence of alcohol.
Alvaro Rodriguez and Edilberto Morales were arrested on suspicion of hit and run with injuries, DUI traffic collision with injuries, and driving with a blood alcohol content over 0.15%. They were booked into the West Valley Detention Center on $250,000 and $30,000 bail, respectively.
