If you’re on the other end of the Morongo Basin, the deadline for youth basketball sign-ups in Yucca Valley is approaching soon. The town is accepting sign-ups to boys and girls in grades 3rd through 8th; registration for the league is underway and will remain open through November 15th or when divisions are filled. The program focuses on fundamentals and skills development and features competitive league play. Girls and boys play separately in age-appropriate divisions; 3-4 grade, 5-6 grade and 7-8 grade. Players must meet grade and age eligibility requirements. Standings are recorded, with trophies presented to the 1st and 2nd place teams. Practices are held weeknights beginning December 6th,2021; games begin January 8th, 2021. The regular season ends in early March with all-star tournaments continuing throughout the month. Registration for the league is $75 and includes a team jersey, shorts and complimentary picture package. Additional siblings can enroll at a discounted price of $65.

These basic skills clinics provide an opportunity for coaches and staff to evaluate players in preparation for team picks. This assists in balancing the teams and promote greater competition in games. Player attendance is required for all league divisions; only registered athletes may participate. Team practices are held at local gymnasiums. Practices are one-hour sessions, twice per week and are scheduled based on the availability of coaches and facilities. Practice start times can vary from 5:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Games are held on Saturdays with some weeknights if required; game schedules will be posted on the league website at www.quickscores.com/yuccavalley.
