A Yucca Valley woman killed Sunday in a fiery crash in Morongo Valley has been identified. CHP investigators say Matthew Cohen, 29, of Yucca Valley was driving a 2015 Toyota westbound on Highway 62 with 24-year-old Marisa Yenter, as a passenger. As Cohen approached Palo Verde Road in Morongo Valley about 8:30 p.m., he lost control of the Toyota. The car veered off the road and struck a large power pole north of the highway and caught fire. Cohen received major injuries and was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Despite receiving life-saving measures at the scene, Marisa Yenter died of her injuries. Early reports state that Cohen was transporting propane tanks in the back of the car which caused it to start on fire. Officer Jason Kobably said Cohen had a single 5-gallon tank in the car, but the propane was not the cause of the blaze, which started in the engine compartment. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call Officer Jonathan Williams at the CHP at 760-366-3707.
