A woman who allegedly drove her vehicle into a fence in Yucca Valley while drunk, was belligerent with witnesses who tried to prevent her from leaving the scene Wednesday night. According to a Sheriff’s report, a witness at the scene said that the woman, later identified as Lorelei Swindle, 42, nearly ran him off the road in her 2000 Ford. It’s unclear whether she hit another car, but Swindle’s car ran into a fence in the 58500 block of Paxton Avenue about 10 p.m. The home’s resident told deputies that Swindle appeared very drunk and was calling her names, and reported that Swindle said she was going to call the police on the home’s resident. Witnesses said Swindle tried to drive her car away, but the back wheels were stuck in deep sand. Swindle somehow left the scene, but the deputy discovered her Illinois driver’s license on the vehicle’s front seat. The vehicle was registered to an address in the 7300 block of Del Monte Avenue in Yucca Valley, and when the deputy went there about 11 p.m., he found Swindle, who was still very drunk and uncooperative. Lorelei Swindle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run. She was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, cited and released.
