A Yucca Valley woman was arrested following a hit-and-run collision in Yucca Valley Tuesday night. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Aracely Medina, 28, of Yucca Valley, who was driving a 1999 Honda Accord westbound on Antelope Trail, passed a vehicle on the left and ran the stop sign at Grand Avenue about 8:20 p.m. As Medina entered the intersection, Medina’s Accord crashed into a 2007 Saturn Vue, being driven by Valerie Torres, 36, of Yucca Valley, who was driving northbound on Grand Avenue. The impact of the collision sent the Vue onto its side. Medina stopped her car just past the intersection and fled on foot. Valerie Torres and her 9-year-old daughter were taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center where the pregnant Torres was monitored by the labor and delivery department; her daughter was treated and released by the emergency department. About 11 p.m., deputies contacted Medina, who confirmed that she was driving the Honda, did not have a driver’s license, and had fled the scene. Aracely Medina was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing injuries, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000.
