YUCCA VALLEY WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER DEATH THREATS

A Yucca Valley woman was arrested Wednesday, accused of threatening to kill a man she hired to do yard work. Sheriff’s reports say Elizabeth Bergman, 45, hired a man to clean up her yard in the 6300 block of El Dorado Avenue, and wrote him two checks totaling $750 for the yard work. When a bank told the worker the checks were from a closed account, he went back to Bergman, when she refused to pay, the worker called Sheriff’s deputies to report the check fraud. The deputy was unsuccessful in contacting Bergman; once the deputy left, Bergman allegedly called the worker and threatened to go to his home and kill him and his family. After a second attempt to talk to her was unsuccessful, the deputy obtained an arrest warrant. Elizabeth Bergman was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000.
