A Yucca Valley woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after her parents said she bit and threatened them during a fight over custody of her child. Laura Hendrickson, 35, went to her parents’ home in the 7800 block of Quail Springs Road in Joshua Tree just before 1 a.m. to visit her 2-year-old child who lived with her parents. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Hendrickson started screaming at and fighting with her 64-year-old father and 59-year-old mother when they said she was acting irrationally. Her father grabbed his grandchild, at which time Hendrickson tried to grab her child, then grabbed a knife and said she would stab her father if he did not give her the child. Her parents told deputies that Hendrickson bit her father’s arm, and then her mother’s hand when she tried to intervene. Hendrickson managed to grab her child and drove off, but deputies stopped her at Park Boulevard and Alta Mesa and arrested her for investigation of child endangerment and assault. Laura Hendrickson was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with her bail set at $100,000.
