YUCCA VALLEY WATER RATES MAY TAKE A LITTLE DIP BEFORE A 5 YEAR INCREASE

Workshops and rates were on the agenda for a special workshop held by the HI-Desert Water District Board of Directors. Assignment reporter Keith Bailey was there, and files this report…

If you own a home or rent a home in Yucca Valley, you may experience a $1.35 decrease in your monthly water bill. The Hi-Desert Water District board of directors held a special workshop last night in which they heard a presentation from a consultant on water rates. The consultant proposed a 3 percent per year rate increase for fiscal years 2020-2024, but he also noted that the removal of a Morongo Basin surcharge would result in a $1.35 decrease in monthly water bills. Since it was a workshop, there was no action taken on the item. The board members also held a workshop on the water district’s water and wastewater budget for fiscal year 2019-20.
