YUCCA VALLEY VIRTUAL RUN TO BENEFIT SENIOR MEALS

Our seniors are among the most vulnerable to COVID-19 in our community. Many self-quarantine at home, afraid to venture out even to purchase groceries. The Yucca Valley Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a virtual run, the proceeds of which will go to help seniors who are in need. Managing editor Tami Roleff has more information about how you can help…

Demand for the Meals-on-Wheels services has increased 300 percent since March, since many seniors are self-quarantining at home and are reluctant to venture out, even to purchase groceries. The Town of Yucca Valley is partnering with San Bernardino County Senior Nutrition Program to help by sponsoring a virtual 5K run-walk. Time yourself as you run or walk 5 kilometers anywhere—a road, trail, track, treadmill, or gym—at your own pace; just finish your 5K by June 29. Then email your total time to an address in this story at z1077fm.com for your commemorative 5K medal and to be entered into a raffle for prizes. The entry fee is $10 and goes to support the Meals on Wheels program, which provides more than 1000 meals each week to seniors in Yucca Valley and surrounding neighborhoods. More information is available in the link below.
