The Yucca Valley High School soccer team took on Banning High School yesterday. Varsity lost 4-3; junior varsity won 2-1.
Coach Jorge Rodriguez said. “It was a very tough loss. A few costly mistakes made the difference. We controlled the pace of the game and we had lot of chances to score, but we were not able to score more goals.”
Goals were scored by senior Alan Campos, sophomore Landon Gradilla and junior Marcelo Noble.
The team will have a a rematch in Banning in two weeks. The Trojan boys’ soccer plays away in Indio Friday night.
Junior varsity won 2 to 1. Coach Adan Mendoza named freshman Zach Cardoza as player of the match with one goal scored and one assist.
Coach Mendoza said, “The boys came out and played the best game so far this season. I’m very happy with the effort, hard work and dedication they have put in.”
The second goal was scored by sophomore Jesse Reyes.
