YUCCA VALLEY AND TWENTYNINE PALMS COUNCILMEMBERS NOT RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION

Two current council members, one on the Twentynine Palms City Council and one on the Yucca Valley Town Council, have announced they will not be running for re-election. Jay Corbin, the current mayor pro tem for Twentynine Palms, told Z107.7 news that he’s enjoyed being on the council and his accomplishments, but he doesn’t want to run for another term. His said his biggest accomplishment so far with making Twentynine Palms business friendly. He has some goals that he would like to see accomplished before the end of his term—such as directional signs, and seeing the dog park come to fruition.

 

Yucca Valley Town council member Dawn Rowe announced at the Town Council meeting Tuesday night that she does not intend to run for re-election this fall. Rowe told Z107.7 that being on the Council takes an extraordinary amount of time, and now that her children are in junior and senior high school, she wants to focus her attention as a single parent on her children. Rowe said she is proud of her accomplishments of making the Town’s General Plan and Development Code consistent, simplified, and clear. She added that she is also proud of keeping invocations before Town Council meetings. Rowe said she still intends to continue her part-time work for Congressman Paul Cook.
