Yucca Valley Trojans Set Records on Senior Night vs. Cathedral City

The Yucca Valley High School Trojans football team won 48-0 in a dominating performance over Cathedral City on Friday Night (October 21). The Trojans celebrated the senior football players and cheerleaders in a presentation before the game. Along with victory, Trojans players set school football records and have punched their ticket to the CIF Playoffs.

On offense, Javin Hudson had two touchdown catches, Myles and Malachi Harper, each had a touchdown catch, Michael Ramos and Stephon Rogers both had a rushing touchdown. On defense, Myles Harper had an interception return and led the team in tackles followed by Joseph Natzel, and Landon Stitt had two fumble recoveries.

Sophomore quarterback Michael Ramos currently has 2048 yards passing which is a new school record. Two more players have broken records – Myles Harper and Javin Hudson are both competing for the top spot and are nearing 1000 receiving yards. Both have shattered the previous record with more games to be played. Coach Jeremy Johnson said “Michael came to us as a freshman last year, we converted him to a Varsity quarterback and the benefits will pay off for several years. Javin and Myles are outstanding receivers and both are capable of scoring a short pass play. I sure am proud of these guys and they are all back again next year!”

The Trojans JV program won 46-0 and are 5 and 1 in league play.

This week sees the return of the oldest rivalry in the area dating back to 1968, The Battle of the Bell. This year the game will be held at Twentynine Palms. JV kicks off at 4pm and Varsity kicks off at 7pm.
