Now that Thanksgiving is over, we have officially entered the holiday season. And there’s no better way to get the holidays started here in the high desert than by lighting a 25 foot Christmas tree. Today (November 30), the town of Yucca Valley’s annual tree-lighting ceremony returns this year to the Yucca Valley Branch Library, and will feature holiday music, hot cocoa and a coffee bar, a book giveaway, and Santa Claus himself. Yucca Valley Mayor Merl Abel will flip the switch on the lights at 6 p.m. sharp. The tree lighting event is 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, in front of the Yucca Valley Branch Library on Highway 62 and Joshua Lane.
