The Yucca Valley Town Council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. tonight in the Yucca Room of the Community Center. Among the items on the agenda, the Council will recognize the employee of the quarter, and will receive the treasurer’s report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2012. Under department reports, the Council will hear recommendations from the Youth Commission concerning designated smoking areas at the Community Center Complex. Next the Council will review the budget for special revenues, such as the gas tax and Measure I funds. Council will also hear a report on funding the Town’s other post-employment benefits, and direct staff on whether the Town should continue its pay-as-you-go system, or change to a “pre-funding” approach. Other items on the agenda include budgeting for tourism and regional marketing; providing policy direction for plans for maintaining current and future parks; and partnership funding requests. Finally, Council member Bob Leone will present his appointments to the Planning Commission and Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Commission.
