A hybrid-indoor pool that has a pool for recreational swim and a few lap swim lanes, a gymnasium, a splash pad, and offices to consolidate park staff are the amenities the Yucca Valley Town Council most wants in its new aquatics center. A competitive swim pool will be marked for a future phase of the project—if and when the town has more money to spend on the project.

Yucca Valley Town Council members preferred a site plan for the proposed aquatics center by the Boys and Girls Club, and that included a gymnasium and splash pad, as well as consolidated offices for town parks staff. They also liked the idea of closing down Little League Drive between the aquatics center and the ball fields for pedestrian safety. Town of Yucca Valley video

The council also agreed that it wanted to stay within the budget of Prop 68 for building the pool complex—which means, that after state fees, administrative costs, and planning and design fees, it’ll have around $15 million of the $22 million to spend on construction. Town staff will present a projected five-year estimate of annual costs for the aquatics center at a future meeting.
