The Yucca Valley Town council has a full agenda after being dark for a month. Managing editor Tami Roleff says the main items on the agenda will be approving two sales tax measures for the November ballot…
The Yucca Valley Town Council will hear a quarterly public safety report from the Sheriff’s Department before moving on to approving contract amendments and project completions, and town programs for the fall, among other items. Then, the council will hold two public hearings: one for a half-cent sales and use tax for the town’s general fund; and the other a half-cent sales and use tax to benefit the town’s sewer project and assessments, to be added to the ballot for the November election. The council will then be asked to approve a new commissioner to the Planning Commission. Next up, the council will be asked to approve the application for Highway Safety Improvement projects on Yucca Trail; request the planning commission to consider amendments to the development code concerning nonconforming lots and structures; and introduce an ordinance to change speed limits on some streets in the town. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
