The newly formed Aquatics and Recreation Project Advisory Commission will work with the architects to design a new pool and recreation center for the town of Yucca Valley. At last night’s meeting of the Yucca Valley Town Council, council members had a difficult decision as they appointed five members from 19 applications for the new commission. Named to the commission were Julie Alexander, Ben Grodjesk, George Huntington, Raymond Greene, and Sue Tsuda. Based on their previous experience on the town council, Huntington and Tsuda were named chair and vice chair, respectively. Also named were Matthew Rach from the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Commission, Margie Trandem from the Planning Commission, and Steve Goddard and Kimberly Balch from the Youth Commission. The town will hold a workshop Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center in which residents can express their opinions on what should be included in the new aquatics center.
