Yucca Valley Town Council meets tonight: salary increase, vandalism, and Water District committee

Tonight’s Yucca Valley Town Council meeting includes the enactment of a 30 percent salary increase for council members.

Effective January 1, 2025, the proposed increase will raise council members’ salaries from $610 to $950, the maximum allowed by California Law. As quoted in the agenda, the salary raise is intended to “keep the council more diverse,” as well as mitigate effects of inflation. This measure is included in the consent agenda, and is expected to pass unanimously unless met with public comment.

The council will also discuss the increase in graffiti and vandalism occurrences of both public and private property in Yucca Valley. Following a review of current town ordinances and actions, the council will consider establishing an award program related to any future violations. An ad hoc committee will also be considered to promote policy discussion between the Hi Desert Water District and the town council.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public, and begins at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
