At tonight’s special meeting of the Yucca Valley Town Council, the council will recognize Parks and Rec commissioner Laurine Silver. During the consent agenda, the council will certify the election results, and authorize the mayor to issue a letter of support for the county’s proposed mental health facility in Joshua Tree. Newly elected council member Jeff Drozd and incumbent Robert Lombardo will then be sworn in, and council members will choose a new mayor and mayor pro tem. Next up are public hearings on public facility development impact fees and the adoption of the triennial California building code. Then the council will be asked to review the information technology master plan and approve a contract with Spectrum for fiber optic network services. And finally, the council will hear a summary of results for the Measure Y and Measure Z taxes and direct staff to establish a citizen’s oversight committee. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center.
