After recognizing County Fire Division Chief Dave Benfield, who is retiring, and hearing an update from the town’s animal shelter, the Yucca Valley Town Council will get down to business at its meeting tonight. Managing editor Tami Roleff lists some of the items on its agenda…
Among the items on tonight’s consent agenda for the Yucca Valley Town Council are a designation of a representative to the Southern California Associated Government, and to receive and file the town’s annual housing element report from the General Plan. The Council will then be asked to authorize a letter offering support for AB 266, which would uphold local control for medical marijuana dispensaries. Next, the Council will accept a portion of Pima Trail, from Palm Avenue to just east of Church Street, into the town’s maintained street system. Council members will also be asked to nominate and approve residents to the Parks and Rec Commission. The final item in the open session is to award a three-year contract for the town’s independent auditor. The council will then go into closed session to discuss two items of existing litigation with Best Western Yucca Valley and Frank Lindsay.
