The Yucca Valley Town Council meets tonight in both a closed and open session. A far-reaching agenda is packed with everything from leasing a new vehicle, electric vehicle charging stations, and the council giving themselves and commission members raises. Managing editor Tami Roleff takes a closer look at the busy agenda…
Tonight’s Yucca Valley Town Council meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a closed session meeting at which council members will discuss potential litigation. When the regular session starts at 6, council members will be asked to deny two claims filed against the town; authorize a lease of a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and approve the sale of a 2005 Suburban as surplus property. Under department reports, the council will hear a presentation on a community livability survey, and the budget recommendations from the Revenue Oversight Commission for Measures Y and Z. Also on the agenda, the council will be asked to approve the sale of an easement on the southeast corner of Kickapoo and Benecia to the Hi-Desert Water District; approve an ordinance to expedite the permitting process for electric vehicle recharging stations; and increase the compensation for council members to $557 per month and $100 per meeting for planning and parks and recreation commissioners. Tonight’s meeting will be held in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center.
Updated to correct the compensation from per meeting to monthly.
