YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL MEETS IN A WIDE-RANGING SESSION TONIGHT

Among the items on the consent agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Yucca Valley Town council, the council will be asked to reject a claim filed against the town by Jeff Cook; award a construction contract for a town-wide crack sealing project; and award a contract for a demographic study to establish voting districts. Under department reports, the council will be asked to approve a funding request for the Yucca Valley High School Select choir; approve the allocation of Measure Y funds; approve the five-year capital improvement plan; and update the town’s ordinance on abandoned shopping carts. Next, the council will be asked to once again provide direction to the Planning Commission on establishing alternative recommendations for accessory structures such as guest houses and casitas. Finally, the council will report on its evaluation of Town Manager Curtis Yakimow. Then, the council will go into closed session to appoint a town attorney. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center.
