The Yucca Valley Town Council heard comprehensive reports on water, the town’s sewer system, housing and safety, reducing diesel emissions, and receiving and filling the staff presentation of the proposed draft budget for the general fund for 2022-24. Reporter Hilary Sloane is here with a complete account of the meeting…
The Yucca Valley Town Council took no action in the closed session. All items on the consent agenda were approved, including the engineering reports for the existing assessment districts and directing the filing with the Town Clerk. Additionally, the Council approved signature authorization for reimbursement requests for state grants to fund capital projects. They approved change orders and requests for additional professional services for the Senior Center kitchen upgrades project and the contract with Hermann Design Group for On-Call Landscape Architectural Services.
The town council then received a comprehensive presentation from Paul Peschel, General Manager of the Hi-Desert Water District, with details about phase one and the upcoming phase two and three of the sewer project and suggestions for acquiring funding to continue to get water to residents.
The Council then heard from Lindsey Klein and Jacqueline Protsman Rohr, representatives of Placeworks, Inc. Placeworks was awarded a professional service contract on November 17, 2020, for $133,397 for assistance in updating the town’s housing and safety elements. The report included current state requirements and a review of existing and projected housing needs.
