Last night’s Yucca Valley Town Council meeting was host to the MBTA and a discussion surrounding the Brown Act and social media. Reporter Joshua King has more details.
The meeting began with a presentation to the public from Mark Goodale of the Morongo Basin Transit Authority discussing the services provided. The services are fixed routes, the ready ride service for elderly and disabled citizens, commuter routes, and the Transportation Reimbursement Escort Program, which allows citizens to volunteer their own vehicles to provide transport for elderly and disabled citizens, and to receive mileage reimbursement from the MBTA. Following, the council adopted a resolution establishing an electronic signature policy for town matters.
Finally, the council discussed a new California law which prevents town council members from publicly engaging one another in social media discussions on public matters, lest they violate the Brown Act.
