YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL GET SEWER HOOK UP COSTS

The Yucca Valley sewer project is expected to be up and running by summer of 2019, which means that residents and businesses—and the Town of Yucca Valley—will have to connect to the sewer project by then. Managing editor Tami Roleff says the town council received an estimate on how much that’s going to cost the town at its meeting last night…
It’s not just the residents and businesses of Yucca Valley who will be connecting to the sewer project next year. The town owns properties in all phases of the sewer project, and all town buildings will be connecting to the new sewer lines too, and that’s going to be expensive. The connection process will include eliminating the existing septic tanks, as well as trenching through existing improvements, such as turf areas and paved parking lots. At last night’s meeting of the Yucca Valley Town Council, council members learned it will cost the town about $344,000 to connect town properties to the sewer lines, and more than $607,000 in assessment charges, or connection fees, for a total of nearly $1 million. The 2017-18 budget has already allocated $300,000 for connection fees, and $950,000 is available from unspent bond funds.
And if you’re a charitable organization with a building in a residential area, good news: the council authorized the Planning Commission to hold public hearings on revising the town’s sign ordinance concerning “charitable organizations.”
