At last night’s meeting, the Yucca Valley Town Council reviewed two proposed redistricting maps and refined their strategic plan for the next two years. For the complete recap of the meeting, we go to reporter Jef Harmatz.
At last night’s regularly scheduled meeting, the council received two proposed maps for the town’s redrawing of district boundaries based on 2020 census data. Council members expressed a preference for draft map 101, which uses Onaga Trail as a dividing line and sees minor modifications to Districts 2 and 3, but are eager for the public to weigh in when the maps are published on the town’s website later this week. The council further refined its strategic plan for 2022 through 2024, which prioritizes short-term vacation rental regulation, the construction of the aquatics center, business corridor maintenance and open space usage in Old Town, and the revitalization of the airport. Finally, the council approved minor exterior changes to the Walmart building.
