YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL CONSIDERS 45-DAY BAN ON NEW STVRS, WIDENING HIGHWAY 62

Tonight, the Yucca Valley Town Council will consider a 45-day moratorium on approving any new short-term vacation rentals, as well as the possibility of widening Highway 62. Reporter Jef Harmatz has the full details on the meeting’s agenda.

At tonight’s regularly scheduled meeting, the town council will hold a public hearing on the moratorium, which many residents called for at the previous council meeting. The moratorium would effectively pause any new vacation rentals in town, giving the town time to update its policies on short term before issuing any new permits. The council will also receive a preliminary report on the possibility of widening Highway 62 to three or four lanes of traffic in each direction. Finally, the council will receive an update on capital projects and discuss how to use excess funds from this year’s budget. The meeting begins tonight at 6 p.m. and can be attended in person at the Yucca Valley Community Center or online via the link below.
