It was a packed meeting for the Yucca Valley Town Council last night. Cassidy Taylor has the details…
The meeting began with an educational presentation from the California Redistricting Commission explaining the redistricting process. The council then bid farewell and gratitude to outgoing commissioners Paul Hoffman and Joanne Keiter. After a public hearing on the costs of removing a recent public nuisance on a Yucca Valley property, the council heard the Youth Commission term report for the 2020-2021 fiscal year, including many activities the commission did to support homebound senior citizens. The young commissioners were given appreciation certificates for their service to the town.
The council then moved to consider a second addendum for the Brehm Youth Sports Project and the addition of an aquatics center to Brehm Park in compliance with CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act). They unanimously adopted the resolution approving the addendum, which approves both possible locations for the aquatics center with priority given to the location just South of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club.
Finally, the council discussed celebrations of the town’s 30th anniversary of incorporation. With current CDC guidelines, the council is considering tying the celebrations into existing town events, such as the Fourth of July and the upcoming film festival.
