The Yucca Valley Town Council met in regular session last night. Managing editor Tami Roleff says the meeting had hellos, farewells, and a break for local artists…
The Yucca Valley Town Council opened its meeting last night welcoming new Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Joling, and closed it by saying farewell to another resident. More than a dozen artists urged the council to approve the exemption of artists from home occupation permits. After discussion, the council members approved the exemption, 4-1, (with Merl Abel absent), while allowing artists to have one employee who was not a family member, and set hours of operation, along with minor wording changes. Mayor George Huntington closed the meeting in memory of Warren Lavender, a former planning commissioner who died over the weekend. Tomorrow, in part 2, we’ll hear comments about the mass grading that removed hundreds of Joshua trees, yuccas, and cactus in a new subdivision on Sage Avenue and Golden Bee.
