YUCCA VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL: AN $8,000.00 BIRTHDAY PARTY, HOTEL LITIGATION

The Yucca Valley Town Council will meet in regular session tonight. Managing editor Tami Roleff has a closer look at an agenda that includes an $8,000 birthday party and a possible lawsuit with a local hotel…
After recognizing the Star Twirlers Square Dance club, hearing an update for Southern California Edison, and honoring the employee of the year, the Yucca Valley Town Council will move on to the consent agenda. Some of the items on the consent agenda include awarding a contract for a street sweeper; establishing regulations for printing candidates’ statements for the town council election in November; authorizing the submission of a grant application for hazard mitigation and the commitment of a $55,387.50 in matching funds; and amending a contract with a professional services group by an additional $52,000 for polling and public education services. On the action agenda, the council will be asked to approve $8,000 for birthday cake, balloons and decorations, kids’ games and activities, and raffle prizes to celebrate the town’s 25th anniversary of incorporation during one of the summer concerts; approve the submittal of transportation projects for state-funded grants; and approve adjustments to speed limits to some residential streets in the town. The council will then go into closed session to discuss potential litigation against the Best Western Hotel. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center.
