The Yucca Valley Town Council chose a map for district elections at its special meeting last night. Managing editor Tami Roleff was at the meeting, and files this report…
After requesting the demographer to prepare a revised version of a district map known as Yellow at its March 26 meeting, the Yucca Valley Town Council unanimously voted last night to reject the revisions and adopt the original Yellow map. After saying that the Yellow 2 map was more refined in its boundary lines, the council members agreed that the changes in Yellow map 2 were insignificant and didn’t make a difference in the percentage of Latino voters in District 3. The council members agreed they liked having the district boundaries marked by major roads and community features. The council will formally adopt a resolution establishing the new districts at its next meeting Tuesday, April 24, at 5:30 p.m.
