The Yucca Valley Town Council burned through a lot of business in short order during its regular meeting last night. Council members agreed the town was getting a bargain with the donation from the Basin Wide Foundation of the Brehm Sports Park. The town will pay the Basin Wide Foundation $410,000 from bond proceeds; the park is valued at $4.5 million. The council also heard a report on the Hi-Desert Nature Museum’s strategic plan for the next two years, in which it intends to conduct a wall-to-wall inventory of the permanent collection, and replace or update exhibits, galleries, and fixtures. The council approved a new county work release program for inmates, who will work at the animal shelter and in public works maintenance. And finally, the council learned that the town’s ad hoc committee is making great progress in hammering out a compromise ordinance with the proponents of the medical marijuana initiative. The ad hoc committee expects to present the compromise initiative to the council at its meeting of March 17.
