YUCCA VALLEY TO HOLD FIRST PUBLIC HEARING ON STVRS AFTER HITTING PAUSE ON NEW APPLICATIONS

Since enacting a moratorium on new applications for short-term vacation rentals, the town of Yucca Valley is holding its first public hearing on the controversial matter. Reporter Jef Harmatz tells you how to voice your opinions and what to expect at tomorrow night’s meeting.

Tomorrow night’s (November 23) regularly scheduled meeting of the Yucca Valley Planning Commission will be the first time the town will be hearing from the public on the subject of vacation rentals since the Town Council approved the moratorium. The moratorium was enacted on November 2 to give the town time to reconsider its policies on vacation rentals. Any amendments to the town’s housing or zoning code will originate with Planning Commission, before being brought to the council. At tomorrow night’s meeting, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on an amendment to code that would clarify procedures and repercussions for problematic vacation rentals. The Planning Commission seeks input from the public for this and upcoming regulations regarding short-term vacation rentals. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. tomorrow night at the Yucca Valley Community Center and can be attended online via the link below.
