YUCCA VALLEY TEEN ARRESTED FOLLOWING MOTORCYCLE PURSUIT

A Yucca Valley teen was arrested Wednesday for investigation of felony failure to yield. Just before noon on January 12, Sheriff deputies received a report of a juvenile riding a motorcycle around the Yucca Valley High School campus. A press release states that the arriving deputy witnessed the juvenile traveling outside the school’s perimeter, near the football field when they initiated a traffic stop and the motorcycle fled at a high rate of speed.

The motorcycle fled the area south on Sage Avenue as the deputy attempted to catch up to him. The motorcycle rider reportedly slowed down and allowed the deputy to pull up next to him. The deputy then gave several verbal commands to pull over and shut the motorcycle off, but rider indicated he did not hear the commands each time they were given, then accelerated away from the deputy again. The rider continued south on Sage Avenue, failing to stop for the intersection with Joshua Drive. The rider then allegedly failed to stop at several stop signs in the area and continued at a high rate of speed in the residential area. The deputy was able to pursue the motorcycle until the rider left the paved road and into the desert area of Yucca Valley.

Following further investigation, deputies report that they were able to identify the 15-year-old male juvenile and locate the juvenile’s residence. Deputies went to his residence in the 57000 block of Carlyle Drive in Yucca Valley and located the juvenile and his motorcycle. The juvenile was then arrested for suspicion of felony failing to yield and booked at the San Bernardino Juvenile Detention Center.
