The Yucca Valley High School Trojan swim team traveled to Desert Hot Springs on Wednesday, March 20 and came home with solid victories. The boys out-swam the Eagles 105-25 and girls 128-29, both winning 11 of 11 events.

Coach Rebecca Pessa said highlights of the meet included Cameron Collins and Kaden Foster’s 1-2 finish in the 500-yard freestyle.

First year swimmer Robert Reyes proved to be a force in the 100-yard backstroke, and Carl Manter swam a personal best time, 1:05.37, in the 100-yard butterfly.

The girls showed their depth as a team, finishing first-second-third in all 11 events. Maddy Fowler dropped time in her 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke and Vanessa Ozburn keeps getting faster. Kaylee Powell dropped 2.5 seconds in her 200-yard individual medley for a faster CIF consideration time of 2:44.72.

The 400-yard freestyle relay of Powell, Skye Hansen, Jordyn Koger, and Markina Evdokimoff shaved 2.9 seconds, bettering their CIF consideration time.

Next, the Trojans travel to Cathedral City on March 27 for a highly anticipated league meet.
