YUCCA VALLEY SOCCER TEAMS LOSE TO CATHEDRAL CITY

In high school sports, the Yucca Valley boys’ soccer team hosted Cathedral City yesterday and lost 2 to 1 yesterday.

Coach Jorge Rodriguez said, “We played one of our best games of the season. Our defense has improved every game and today we took another step towards what Trojan soccer is about. We play tough every minute and we challenge every play. We do not back down and we play for each other. Our goal was scored by senior defender Alexis Cortes, off a throw in by junior Griffin Hilderbrand. Player of the match is Griffin Hilderbrand for his effort and leadership. He played in the midfield today and made a difference for our team. We give credit to CCHS—they scored when they had their chances. The coaching staff continues to see improvement from all our players, we are playing with more confidence. We look forward to playing at Indio High School on Monday.”

The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats soccer team also lost to Coachella Valley 11-1.
