YUCCA VALLEY SEWER SYSTEM GOES ACTIVE TODAY WITH THE “FIRST FLUSH”

After years of planning and construction, Yucca Valley’s first flush into its new sewer system is set for today. Following the approval of a town inspector, a home on Indio Avenue in Yucca Valley will be the site of the official “first flush,” set for about 9:30 a.m. today, and Z107.7 Radio will air the event live.

In 2011, the Town of Yucca Valley was ordered by the state to stop using septic tanks by 2016, a date that was later extended to June 30, 2021. The central and downtown parts of Yucca Valley are in Phase 1 of the sewer project which will be connecting to the sewer starting today. Neighborhoods on the northern, southern, and western ends of Yucca Valley will be in Phase 2, which must connect to the sewer by 2025. Property owners who do not disconnect their septic systems may be fined up to $5,000 per day.
