Hi-Desert Water District is on schedule with the lateral connection plan to connect properties to the main sewer lines. Properties in stage seven—which includes much of Yucca Valley north of Highway 62—will start connecting to the sewer in January through April. Properties that connect to the sewer outside of the deadline are subject to daily fines, and residents who continue to discharge into septic tanks past their connection deadline will receive a “cease and desist” order from the Regional Water Quality Control Board. The water district offers construction loans for low-income residents.
