A Yucca Valley man who enlisted with the U.S. Navy is on an amphibious assault ship off the coast of Japan. Jake Begonia is a quartermaster 3rd class on the USS Bonhomme Richard, an LHD-6. The Bonhomme Richard left Sasebo, Japan Sunday for a readiness for sea assessment, ahead of a regularly scheduled patrol in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
