The Rotary Club of Yucca Valley held its annual speech contest March 26 for high school students. The speech contest centers around Rotary’s “Four-Way Test,” which focuses on whether things are true, fair, build better relationships, and are beneficial. Students spoke on any subject of their choice between five and eight minutes, and they were encouraged to use the Rotary four-way test in their speech. Katie Ferry received a cash prize of $200 for first place; Xanthia Clow won $100 for second place; and Eddie Costello won $50 for third place. Katie Ferry will now go on to the regional district contest.
