Robert Leone, the former mayor of Yucca Valley and long-time member of the Town Council, passed away on Saturday. He was 89 years old.
After serving in both the New York and Los Angeles Police Departments, Leone and his wife Betty moved to Yucca Valley in the early 1990s.
Leone was elected to the Town Council in 1998 and served for 20 years, which included four stints as Mayor.
The Town issued a statement, recognizing Leone’s work for town after incorporation, citing projects like Jacobs Park, Paradise Park, the Community Center and Brehm Parks, along with the rehabilitation of the library.
